Official announcement of the selection of the LabEx CEBA

As part of the “Grand Emprunt” scheme, a call for projects “laboratories of excellence” (LabEx) has been launched in 2010. LabEx structures aim at providing French laboratories with significant resources to allow them to compete internationally, to attract researchers and professors of international reputation and increase the quality of research and training.
LabEx CEBA (CEntre for the Study of Biodiversity in Amazonia) was selected.
CEBA project gathers eleven research teams in research and higher education in French Guiana, the Caribbean and mainland France, on environment, ecology, biodiversity, health and environmental technology.
CEBA benefits from a particularly favorable environment in French Guiana through partnerships with other public institutions involved in conservation and biodiversity studies. The project’s expected results are on applied and basic research in the field of biodiversity, and on the development of higher education courses within University of Antilles Guyane.
