Health was one of the themes addressed in the August edition of the magazine ” Une Saison en Guyane .” CEBA’s contribution was an 8-page article reflecting the work being carried out by the researchers in the network on biodiversity and health. The approach chosen was : “Tropical Diseases : the research areas are diversifying”. More than a dozen authors have participated in the construction of this dossier including researchers and PhD students CEBA .
The objective was to highlight the research activities on the pathologies present in French Guiana, the vectors responsible and treatment options such as medicinal plants or natural molecules. This mosaic article reflects the interdisciplinarity of the Labex CEBA. The article deals with reservoirs and vectors of pathogens with the study of bats and mosquitoes by researchers of the Institut Pasteur de Guyane (IPG); pathologies encountered in French Guiana such as leishmaniasis, toxoplasmosis and ‘ Amazon ‘ histoplasmosis by the researchers of the Epidémiologie des Parasitoses Tropicales (Epat); the use of medicinal plants associated with traditional knowledge by researchers of the CNRS Guyane and the Ecologie des Forpets de Guyane (EcoFoG); and research of new molecules with ants as models by the EcoFoG researchers.
This contribution helped promote CEBA’s research activities and disseminate the research results through the collaboration of researchers and PhD students of the LabEx CEBA.
