ATBC and OTS 50th anniversary meeting: CEBA researchers in Costa Rica

The Association for tropical biodiversity and conservation (ATBC) and the Organization for tropical studies (OTS) organized a joint 50th anniversary celebration during the ATBC annual meeting. In 2013, this meeting took place June 23-27 in San José, the capital city of Costa Rica.
Nearly 1000 scientists have come to this international meeting, to exchange ideas about the results of five decades of scientific research on tropical biology. This was also the opportunity to draw up perspectives for the future, the main challenge being the way to bridge the different disciplines: genetics, conservation, economy, sociology, ecology, biology, agroforestry, etc.
Six researchers members of the CEBA made the trip to San José: Jérôme Chave (scientific director of the CEBA, EDB laboratory), Christopher Baraloto, Claire Fortunel, Heidy Schimann, Fabien Wagner (all 4 at the Ecofog laboratory), Jérôme Murienne (EDB laboratory). The research programs they work on were presented during oral sessions and symposia.
Chris Baraloto and Claire Fortunel (Ecofog) collaborated to organize a workshop on “Functional diversity: theory, analyses and interpretation”.
It should also be noted that Christopher Baraloto is one of the four ATBC councilors for 2013-2015.
